An individual who has been convicted in adult criminal court or adjudicated in juvenile court for a specified crime contained in the penal code, such as sexual assault, rape, or child sexual abuse. Some individuals convicted of sex offenses, depending on the offense, may be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years, 20 years, or for life.
