Established in state law, the CCP is a multi-disciplinary county board responsible for developing each county’s annual Public Safety Realignment Plan. The CCP’s seven voting members that comprise the executive committee are the chief probation officer (chair), sheriff, district attorney, public defender, presiding judge of the superior court or designee, a local chief of police, and either the head of the department of social services, the head of the county department of mental health, or the head of the county alcohol and substance abuse programs. Additional advisory members of the CCP are a county supervisor or county administrator, the head of the County Department of Employment, the county superintendent of education, a representative of a community-based organization with experience in successfully providing rehabilitative services to persons convicted of criminal offenses, and an individual who represents the interests of victims.
