Examples of evidence-based programs for Juveniles in the Juvenile Justice System
Evening Reporting Centers: Youth attend cognitive behavioral programs designed to change their delinquent behavior. Youth are shown ways to have fun and socialize while learning prosocial skills. They may begin to get jobs, do volunteer work, or receive assistance with school work. Day Treatment Programs: Youth attend a full day program that includes school and cognitive behavioral programs. These full day programs are designed to help the highest risk youth learn the skills needed to be successful.
Family Programs: Programs such as Positive Parenting or The Parent Project are designed for parents with children in the juvenile justice system. These programs assist parents in providing new skills for parenting their children. They are also given support by other parents participating in the program as well as the leaders of the curriculum.
