An intake is the first meeting between the individual and the probation officer. The probation officer conducts an assessment of the individual, makes any initial program referrals, begins the setting and determining of restitution if applicable, and goes over the terms and conditions of supervision with the individual. The intake probation officer uses all the information obtained during the intake process to make the determination on the most appropriate level of supervision and/or specialized supervision programming for the individual.
