Violation of Probation

Filed by a probation officer with the court when the individual under supervision has violated a term and condition of their court order and the probation officer determines it is appropriate to have the individual returned to court so the judge can determine if a sanction is required. Usually, the sanction involves a period of time in custody or in detention. Lower-level violations of probation are handled outside of the court process.
